Janet Wright Terry has worked in publishing
and writing
since 1975. A long-time resident of
Springbank,
she has been associated with the
Park Patter (the Springbank
community newsletter)
since 1989, initially as a volunteer,
and since 1994
on a business basis. |

Kathryn Chan has been involved in marketing and public relations
for a variety of public and private corporations since receiving
her commerce degree from the U of C in 1985. She has lived
in the Palliser•Bayview•Pumphill (PBP) community
since 1996 and joined forces with Janet in 1999, seeing
an opportunity to produce quality community newsletters. |
Newsletters &
More
Janet and Kathryn formed their company, Newsletters & More
(N&M), in 1999 to publish both the Springbank Park Patter
and the PBP Deer Neighbour. The N&M family grew in 2002
to include both the CKE News and the Strathcona Gazette,
in 2004 to include the WSCR News and in 2008 to include The
Broadcaster. In all four cases, the community associations
approached N&M,
wanting to duplicate the success of the community-oriented
N&M
newsletters in their own communities.
Kathryn and Janet are both staunch advocates of strong community
associations. They recognize the importance of community
newsletters in communicating events and local information,
and maintaining community ties and support for the community
association. Every community has a distinct personality and
N&M works hard to ensure that the content of the newsletters
they publish is relevant to that community. Kathryn handles
the logistics of editorial submissions and ad sales, in close
conjunction with the community associations, while Janet
is responsible for the desktop publishing and printing. Both
Kathryn and Janet strive to continually improve the content
and presentation, to keep the newsletters fresh for their
audience. |
Raves ...
... "Kathryn and Janet are professional, creative,
highly ethical and very good at what they do ... professionally
published community newsletters are one of the most effective
ways of reaching a target market. The publication stays in
the home until the next one is delivered and is thoroughly
read, referred to time and again and is appreciated by the
residents and community association alike as are the businesses
who make the newsletter possible" ...
Kathie MacDuff, Marketing Director, Strathcona
Square Shopping Centre
... " you are the best publishers of community newsletters
I've worked with in the past few months" ...
Lilly Huang, Director, Oxford Learning Centre, Richmond Road
... "Selling real estate has been a most rewarding
career and any time a new agent asks me how I got started,
I always talk about the success that I have had through consistent
advertising in the Palliser•Bayview•Pumphill community
newsletter. I have had numerous calls over the years from
people who reside in the community who have since become
clients, all due to seeing my monthly advertising in the
newsletter. ... The publishers, Kathryn Chan and Janet Terry,
have been excellent to work with and have more than gone
out of their way to assist me with all of my requests. The
product is top quality and consistent" ...
